A Spring Adventure in our Big Red Buggy

Last week a group of children from the Toddler Area headed out on a spring adventure in our red buggy.  The children were all very excited as we got the buggy ready.  Off we set up the driveway to see what we could find!

We went up to the end of the driveway and had a look at all the houses and lovely gardens. On the way back one of the boys said “Oh Percy’s tunnel”. There was a green tunnel sitting on the side of the driveway that looked just like the tunnel from Thomas the Tank Engine.  We decided it would be fun to explore the tunnel so we got out of the buggy and looked through the tunnel then walked to the end.

There was a little broken fence at the end and everyone enjoyed climbing through the gap and out into the grass area.  One of our teacher’s, Margaret, found a birds nest on the ground. We talked about how it must have fallen out of the very tall tree. We each had a turn at holding the nest and had a close look at the mud, moss, and leaves that were inside.

Soon we came to a tree with some spring flowers on it and one of the girls was excited to see her favourite colour, pink.  We found some large leaves to explore too. There was a giant mushroom that we looked at from safe in the buggy and we also found a very big stick to put in our garden. We headed on down to the main driveway and parked safely so we could watch all the trucks and vehicles driving past on the road. We saw a plane, a campervan, some vans, trucks and much more.   What an exciting adventure we had today!

What learning is happening for our children?

  • Exploring the world around them and making connections with things in the community.
  • Building friendships and social skills as we shared in the excitement of our adventure together.
  • Extending our language and vocabulary as we expressed and named things we saw.
  • Exploring nature and the season of spring as we made discoveries together.
